Welcome to the international section of my HILLBOXX. Please note that it contains only a selection of translated content. Since the main part of my work is situated in Germany I'm doing a weekly update consisting announcements and reflections in the german section. International activity like playing, composing or CD releases will be announced here. I will also update my musical schedule and projects as often as possible but please feel free to order the latest or more detailed information by sending me a mail!

Thanks for your interest in my work,

Introduction:

Even if I intend no essential difference in the musical approach, I'm basically playing two completely different setups of instruments - the classical drumset, but extended with some percussion instruments, played with sticks, hands, brushes, toys or whatever - and an electronical setup containing sampler, drumkat, toykeyboard and a number of delays and DJ FX. I like to add acoustic percussion as the indian dhol (or dholak), the UDU or the tavil to the drumset and electronics. And I do love playing the persian tombak (zarb) which I studied for years with Naser Mehravar.

My style is based on contemporary jazz, and has been influenced by 70s and 80s worldmusic, original music from different cultures - with the strongest impact through indian, arabic and african music and finally by the classical and contemporary music i witnessed in my youth.

I'm teaching as well. Jazzdrums- Bachelor in the expanding Hochschule of Osnabrück. Summercamp "Jazzemble" at the Academy of Remscheid. Youth Projects like my percussive musical "CLONG!". I wrote two primary school projects - one about jazz and it's african roots and one multucultural, which I run as a workshop from time to time and I was part of the huge social sculpture "Paradise II" with the musical project Samba For Sachsendorf Madlow - a personal hymn for and by the people of this suburb.
